Looking Glass Falls near Brevard, NC
This is a large acrylic painting I did of one of my favorite water falls. One of the great things about acrylics is that the medium dries fast so you can apply numerous color washes over painted areas. Much of the rocks were painted this way.

Saluda River near Jones Gap, SC
This is a large pastel painting done from a photo of the location near Jones Gap in the Upstate of South Carolina. My technic for using pastels is the same as for acrylics; I work from the back to the front, from dark to light and from the inside out.

Pennsylvania Covered Bridge, Columbia County
Columbia County was called the Covered Bridge Capital of the World because there were so many bridges in the county. In 1975 I got my first commission doing pen & ink drawings of all 28 bridges which was publish for the bicentennial in 1976. Since then, I've done many paintings of the bridges which are slowly vanishing.
